Beliefs of the Union American Methodist Episcopal Church
Preamble
We unite to form a fellowship committed to Christian service, preserving spiritual heritage, upholding doctrine, and promoting harmony. We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Supreme Head of our Church.
Scripture as Our Foundation
We believe the Bible is the primary source and standard for Christian faith and life—authoritative, living, and Spirit‑illuminated.
Christ at the Center
We affirm that God’s purpose is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Tradition is a Spirit‑led, growing understanding of Christ as Lord.
Personal Salvation
Christianity is a relationship with God through Christ, marked by repentance, faith, justification, and growth in grace.
Christian Discipline
Spiritual maturity requires habits of prayer, worship, Scripture study, fasting, service, and self‑examination.
Core Christian Beliefs
- Jesus Christ is Lord and Redeemer.
- The Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God.
- Humanity is created in God’s image with free will.
- We are justified by faith.
- Sanctification is a lifelong journey.
The Church
The Church is the Body of Christ, where Christian life is nurtured, strengthened, and shared for the transformation of society.
Life Everlasting
Eternal life is an ongoing adventure with God that begins now and continues beyond death.
God and Humanity
We believe in the one true and living God who reveals His love through Jesus Christ and His will through the Holy Spirit.
Forgiveness of Sins
We believe in the forgiveness of sins, fulfilled in Christ:
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1
