We are honored to be recognized as the first fully incorporated African-American church in the United States. Our story began in 1805 when the Right Reverend Peter Spencer laid a bold foundation of faith and freedom. By 1813, we were officially incorporated in Delaware, and ever since, we’ve carried forward that vision of hope, resilience, and community.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to nurture the whole person—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—through the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. We believe the Gospel is not just preached, but lived. That’s why we are committed to building God’s Kingdom through:
